My Lost Treasure: Janis Joplin

The theme is the sky and beyond.  That includes the sun and moon, stars, planets, clouds, space, and all the stuff up there.  Today's song has a local and personal connection.

The song was co written by John Hall from Orleans.  I met John nearly 30 years ago when he lived in the Saugerties/Woodstock area and I was working at a radio station in Ulster County.  He's not only a great musician and song writer, he's also a great guy.  John eventually moved to Dutchess County.  Then, in 2005, he formed a new band and hired my boyfriend Bobby to play bass and sing back up vocals.  We had the best summer ever.  There were local gigs, and New England gigs, fun dinners together, and lots of friendships being formed.  John took a break from music to become a Congressman, but I'm happy to say he's playing again.

You probably know this song from Janis Joplin's Pearl album.  If you don't, give it a listen.  It's a great song, a great performance, and it's written by a great man.  I'm proud to call him my friend.
