Today is Neil Young's 73rd birthday. Some people love Neil Young, others can't stand him. I'm one of those that loves him. His a little bit off key voice, the raw and dirty sound of his electric guitar, and the beautiful (albeit different) sound of his acoustic guitar and piano. Yup, I'm a fan.

In fact, one of my best concert experiences ever was seeing Neil Young with Promise of the Real back in 2015 at Bethel Woods. Even though the show was just a few years ago, Neil did just about every song I wanted to hear. He started out acoustic. Just him and his piano. Then he moved to just him and his acoustic guitar. And then the band joined him for an incredible set of electric music. Neil even did Cowgirl in the Sand, which is one of my all time favorite Neil Young songs. So much so, that I've chosen it as the song to play in honor of his birthday.

You may hate his politics, you may even hate his music, but you have to admit the guy is super talented. Happy Birthday, Neil Young. You'll never know how much you've added to my life with your music. Thank you.
