My Lost Treasure: Happy Birthday Joni Mitchell

Happy Birthday to Joni Mitchell. She's 75 today, but somehow I'll always think of her as that young and super talented songwriter from the 60s and 70s. The one I wanted to be when I grew up. Except that I wasn't blonde and talented.

Judy Collins had the hit with the song I picked for today, but Joni Mitchell wrote it, and I love her version the best.  Don't ask me why, but when I hear this song my eyes fill up with tears. Every single time. It is weird how music can bring out such emotions. They are not tears of sadness, nor are they tears of joy. Maybe they are tears of memories gone by, or maybe it's just an appreciation of the music. I am not sorry that I am affected by music, even if it means shedding a few tears.

Joni's health has failed her in the past few years, but I'm always hoping for a full recovery and, if possible, a future of more performing. Happy birthday, Joni. And thanks for years of great music.
