My Lost Treasure: Grateful Dead

Our theme is guys names on My Lost Treasure.  I realize that I have already featured a couple of grateful dead songs during this theme, but they have several that fit.  And today is the anniversary of Jerry Garcia's death, so I am playing another.  To celebrate Jerry's life and the great music he brought to us.

I will never forget the day Jerry died.  I was doing the mid day shift right here at WPDH. We were in these temporary studios on Washington Street in Poughkeepsie.  I could not believe it.  I know Jerry did lots of drugging and drinking, but dead?  At only 53?   We played music from Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead for the rest of my show.  And for the rest of that day and night.   It's one of those days you just don't forget.  like the day John Lennon died.  There have been too many of those days in 2016.

Thanks, Jerry, for making my life so much better through your music.  I hope you are happy and grateful in your journey, wherever you may be.
