My Lost Treasure: Don McLean

We are working a food and drink theme on My Lost Treasure.  I thought it would be a good theme to take us into the holidays, since we all tend to eat and drink a lot this time of the year.  Today's food is pie.  American Pie.

This song was really something when it first came out.  It was long, it was musically and lyrically great, it was a big hit, and my friends and I knew every word.  Funny how we could not remember what we learned in school, but we could remember every word to a song that was eight minutes and change.  And it has stood the test of time.  I was in a bar a couple of years ago, and the band started playing American Pie.  Everybody in the bar was singing whether they were 25 years old or 60.  It's must one of those songs.  an anthem, I guess.
