Today is Ash Wednesday...day of fasting.  As a little Jewish kid in the 60's and 70's, I really didn't know too much about Ash Wednesday.  I just knew that a lot of people I saw had ashes on their foreheads.

I also knew that I felt left out, so when I got home from school, I would always go to a dirty ashtray (everybody's parents smoked back then) put my finger in, and smear ashes on my head.  And then my mother would see it and make me wash it off.  Oh well...I tried.

To honor Ash Wednesday, I picked this one from David Bowie.  A great song any day, but it kind of works for today.
