New York State Police in Wurtsboro have arrested a Port Jefferson man on several drug charges after a traffic stop on July 18.

Adam M. Podell, 29, was pulled over in the Town of Thompson after Troopers observed his black Mazda sedan violating traffic laws. While interviewing Podell, authorities detected an odor of marijuana and searched the vehicle. The search led to the discovery of marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, MDMA capsules and LSD, police said.

The accused was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 4th and 7th degrees along with unlawful possession of marijuana. He was sent to Sullivan County Jail on a $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.  He is due back in the Town of Thompson Court today to answer the charges.
