A nearly 20 year old double murder mystery has finally been solved, after the arrest of a 70 year old man living in Ohio. In 1995,  the body of a teenager named Elizabeth Honsch was found wrapped in trash bags and sleeping bags by a strip mall in New Britain, Connecticut. The body of her mother, 53 year old Marcia Honsch, was found eight days later near the Tolland State Forest in Tolland, MA, though police said she had probably been dead for about a week. Both had been shot in the head.

The thing was...at the time, investigators couldn't identify either woman. Neither had identification. They had no suspects or leads at the time either. But investigators did not give up. In 2011, DNA testing showed that they were indeed mother and daughter. However, they still weren't able to directly link the Honsch's to the bodies for there were never any missing mother-daughter pairs reported as missing. This all changed when authorities got a call from a woman living in Virginia  Beach, VA

Apparently, the women's family living in Dutchess County reported suddenly losing all contact with the pair around October 1995, said New Britain police, who were contacted by New York authorities about the case.

Marcia and Elizabeth Honsch had last lived in Brewster with Marcia's husband, Robert, investigators said.

Robert Honsch was now living in Ohio, under the name Robert Tyree. He had remarried and started a new family. Investigators from Hampden County, Massachusetts, New Britain and the New York State Police went to Ohio to interview Honsch, while obtaining a search warrant. Evidence collected finally linked him to the 1995 murders of his then-wife and daughter. He is being held without bail at the Wayne County Sheriff's Department in Wooster, OH. An extradition hearing would be held within 30 days. Once done, he will be extradited to Massachusetts to face charges.
