A Monticello woman was arrested for breaking into a home an allegedly stealing a gun and ammunition.

On Thursday, Monticello police charged 21-year-old Briana Call, of Monticello with for second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of a stolen property, all felonies.

Call was arrested following an investigation by Monticello police detectives into a reported burglary at a home in the Village of Monticello. Call is accused of breaking into the home and stealing a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun along with ammunition, last Tuesday.

After stealing the gun and ammo from the home, Call hid the firearm in a wooded area, police say.

Detectives soon found the reported stolen gun and ammunition in the woods.

Call was arraigned in Village of Monticello Justice Court and was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $40,000bail pending further court action.

Monticello police were assisted by the Sullivan County District Attorney Office in the investigation.
