The New York Giants went into their Monday night home game against the Detroit Lions with high hopes. Unfortunately, for big Blue it didn't turn out that way.

The Giants ended up losing to the Lions 24-10 at MetLife Stadium. They were still in it into the 4th quarter - that was until receiver Brandon Marshall dropped a pretty much perfect pass from Eli Manning.

It was all downhill from there.

The Giants ended up punting on 4th and 1...that's when Detroit returner Jamal Agnew ran the ball back for an 88 yard touchdown, sealing the 24-10 Lions victory.

Marshall later said:

If I make that play, I’m confident that we go down and score and that [punt return] doesn’t happen. So that’s on me. I let my team down. I got an opportunity to make a big play and change the momentum … and I lost it.

Odell Beckham Jr. returned to the lineup after an ankle sprain, recording four catches for only 36 yards.

The Giants fall to 0-2 on the season, which is surly disappointing considering a number of experts picked them to finish at or near the top of the NFC East. They'll face the Eagles in Philadelphia this Sunday.
