Happy Birthday today (Dec. 28) to rocker Edgar Winter. He's 69.

Edgar Winter is best known for his classic hits like “Frankenstein” and “Free Ride” with the Edgar Winter Group. His 1970 debut album Entrance received critical acclaim and his recording of “Tobacco Road” put him in the national spotlight. The 1972 album They Only Come Out at Night is a classic that hit number 3 on the Billboard 200 and spent an impressive 80 weeks on the charts.

Edgar Winter brought his band to the area earlier this month with a performance at Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center in Sugar Loaf, NY. The show was presented by WPDH and the station gave away a ton of tickets. Feedback on the show was good from listener's who attended. Listener Doug Kane said, "It was a good show". The band played a rockin, extended version of Frankenstein and the sound was great at Sugar Loaf PAC".
