In a huge win for UFC and the mixed martial arts community, NYS Governor Cuomo signed a bill legalizing MMA in the state. UFC then promptly announce that UFC 205 would be the companys debut in the state on November 12th. Cuomo signed the bill where the fight would be taking place, Madison Square Garden.

In a legislative battle that seemed to drag on for decades, MMA fans can now watch their favorite sport in the world's most famous arena, and around the state.

Recently, UFC fighters went around NYC with signs thanking the state for passing the bill, allowing them to fight here. The NYS Senate had actually passed a legalization bill for the past 6 years, but had never had the bill brought up for passage with the rest of the state.

At the end of the day, it stinks that MMA wasn't allowed in New York, for various (seemingly ridiculous) reasons. But that's doesn't matter anymore. All I have to worry about now is getting online fast enough so I can avoid StubHub ticket prices....
