At a press conference Thursday afternoon held at Dutchess Stadium, the FXFL (Fall Experimental Football League) announced that an expansion team named The Hudson Valley Fort, will begin play in the fall at the stadium.

The FXFL is a minor league football organization which began operations in 2014 with four teams in Omaha, Brooklyn, Boston, and a fourth team in Florida.

This year the teams will consist of the Mahoning Valley Brawlers from Ohio, The Brooklyn Bolts, The Blacktips who will be playing all their games on the road, and the Hudson Valley Fort.

According to their website, in 2014 there were 26 players signed from FXFL rosters back onto NFL rosters. Their commissioner is Brian Woods and said at the press conference that the league had discussions with Dutchess Stadium back in January to bring a team here.  The Fort will play 5 games and Hudson Valley will be the home team for 3 of them.

The season will start on Oct. 2, The Fort begins play on October 3rd with a road game in Mahoning Valley. Their first home game will be against Brooklyn on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 3PM.  Last year Sportsnet NY and ESPN 3 were some of the channels broadcasting games, there is no word yet on who will be televising any games for the 2015 season.
