Three New York Mets fans grabbed a piece of history when they paid $365,000 for Mike Piazza's autographed post-9/11 jersey.

The Number 31 jersey also features the American flag on the back collar and 9-11-01 on the right sleeve.

The NY Daily News reports that Anthony Scaramucci from SkyBridge Capital and former Goldman Sachs head trader Tony Lauto scored the winning bid in the auction. Both men share a small ownership piece of the Mets, insuring that the jersey will remain in the Mets organization.

A third, unidentified partner also bid on the jersey.

The jersey Piazza wore will share time between Citi Field, the 9/11 Memorial Museum in Lower Manhattan, and the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown - where Piazza will be inducted in July.

Piazza made history and helped lift the city's spirits in the days following the tragic September 11 attacks. As baseball returned to New York City for the first time after that awful day, Piazza was the hero as he hit a two-run home run at the old Shea Stadium to beat the Atlanta Braves 3-2.
