If you depend on taking the train into New York on the weekends for work or play you should know that three trains will not be running starting October 3.

The Journal News reports that work is being done on the tracks south of Yankee Stadium through Harlem. Those tracks will be out of service over the next seven weeks, causing some time changes and the cancellation of three trains from Poughkeepsie.

On Saturdays and Sundays starting October 3, electric train service will run normally for local trains. The semi-express train will only run between Croton-Harmon and Marble Hill. Riders on those trains will need to transfer at Marble Hill before continuing on. This is expected to increase ride times by six minutes.

Anyone traveling on diesel trains on Saturdays and Sundays starting October 3 will need to change trains at Croton-Harmon to continue their trips. All of the trains out of Poughkeepsie are diesel, so expect to cross the platform and change trains for any trips south of Croton-Harmon.

Metro-North is suspending three southbound trains from Poughkeepsie while track work continues on weekends starting October 3. Those trains are the 9:40am on Saturday, the 10:40am on both days and the 3:40pm train on both days.

Metro-North is also suspending three northbound trains to Poughkeepsie. On Saturdays the 4:14pm train won't run and on both days the 5:14pm and 6:14pm trains will also be temporarily suspended until work is done.

Make sure to check timetables online before heading to the train station on weekends until November 16. New train times will be released when all of the track work is completed.
