Heavy metal rockers Metallica are coming up on a major anniversary in the history of the band, the 30th anniversary of that time they played Poughkeepsie. We're pretty sure they still remember the gig.

The show was Friday night of Thanksgiving weekend, November 28 1986, just two months after the death of bassist Cliff Burton. The band, adjusting to the new bassist Jason Newsted, was surely still reeling from their loss. They pulled it together and ripped through a 17 song set that included Metallica staples 'Master of Puppets', 'Ride The Lightning' and 'Fade To Black'.

Metallica just released the first in a series of behind the scenes videos filmed in New York City when they were in town for the Global Citizen's Festival. The new album Hardwired...To Self Destruct drops November 18th. Metallica plans to spend much of 2017 on the road so they could be coming to a city near you.
