Before you head to a Memorial Day picnic or party, take a moment to remember those who gave their lives in the line of duty for our country. Many towns, villages, and communities throughout the Hudson Valley will have observances this weekend.

Orange County

Sunday, May 24: The Annual Memorial Day 2015 Ceremony "America's Patriotic Day of Remembrance" presented by the Town of Montgomery and Patriotic Veterans Roundtable (AmVets, VFW, American Legion of Maybrook, Montgomery and Walden) at the Town Government Center 110 Bracken Road in Montgomery. Parade steps off at 2pm.

Monday, May 25: 10 am  Memorial Day Parade Village of Warwick, the parade will begin at 10 and will go to the Memorial Park Monument.

Monday, May 25: 11:30-12:30. The Annual Memorial Day Parade in the Town of Tuxedo begins at the GGM Elem. School and ends at the Veterans Memorial Wall. Followed by closing ceremonies on the front lawn of Saint Mary's Church. Spectators can sit anywhere along Route 17 to watch the parade. This event is sponsored by local American Legion Post 293.

Ulster County

Sunday, May 24: 1 pm. Ulster County and area veterans invite the community to the Ulster County Memorial Roll of Honor at the Ulster County Office Building on 244 Fair Street in Kingston. This is a memorial for all Ulster County Service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice throughout our nation's history.

Monday, May 25: 1 pm.  Kingston’s Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade begins at 1 pm on hill in front of City Hall, 420 Broadway. Parade starts at 1:45 pm.

Sullivan County

Monday, May 25: 1 pm. Memorial Day Parade will travel to the Veterans Park and at the conclusion of the service there will be a BBQ at 92 Pine Street, the American Legion Home.

Monday, May 25: 10:30 am The Liberty Memorial Day parade will travel through the business district in the Village of Liberty, proceed down Church Street, and end at the Liberty Veterans Cemetery on Cold Spring Road. At the cemetery, there will be a short service to honor our War Heroes.

Dutchess County

Sunday, May 24: 8 pm. Illumination of the Walkway. Join your neighbors at the Flag Pole in the center of the Walkway Over the Hudson for a sunset vigil. Bring flashlights, glow sticks or other non-flammable items to “Illuminate” at dusk.

Sunday, May 24: 2 pm. The annual Memorial Day Parade and Memorial Service in the village of Fishkill. The Parade will step off from Church Street at 2:00 PM going down Main Street and ending at Monument Square near Route 9 and Main Street. At 2:30 PM at Monument Square, Master of Ceremonies, Mayor James Miccio will start the Memorial Service with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The Village Essay Contest winner from the Fishkill Elementary School will read the winning essay along with many other ceremonial activities. Please join with the Village of Fishkill on Main Street to “Remember Our Fallen Soldiers.”

Sunday, May 24: 2 pm. Memorial Day ceremony at the Soldier & Sailor Fountain on South Ave, hosted by the City of Poughkeepsie and American Legion Lafayette Post #37.

Monday, May 25: 10 am. The Hyde Park Memorial Day Parade will step off at 10 am and head north on Route 9. Everyone is encouraged to remain at Town Hall for the Memorial services by the American Legion immediately following the parade. You are also invited to attend the ceremony at the FDR & Eleanor Roosevelt grave sites.
