Sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols over Memorial Day weekend led to 38 arrests in the county, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office (DCSO).

The Memorial Day crackdown period ran from May 22 to May 27. The arrests included 29 impaired driving arrests, four of which were felonies, as well as nine other arrests, the DCSO press release said.

Agencies participating in the crackdown included the DCSO, New York State Police, Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, Town of Hyde Park Police Department, Town of East Fishkill Police Department, City of Poughkeepsie Police Department, Village of Millerton Police Department, Village of Red Hook Police Department and Village of Wappingers Falls Police Department.

Some 1,026 vehicles passed through three checkpoints held by the agencies. Ten people were arrested at the checkpoints, including eight impaired driving arrests, according to the press release.
