For two movies set in places people like to vacation, the movies fall short of what people think of the actual locations. Out this week are; the disaster movie San Andreas and the romantic-comedy Aloha.

First, the bad - Aloha. Starring a pretty capable and good-looking cast of Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams, this romantic-comedy is set around a military base and military contractors in Hawaii. Cooper's character returns to work for his old boss (who happens to be Bill Murray) and gets stuck between tensions with his ex (McAdams) and his Air Force liaison (Stone). I'm actually kind of sad that this movie is rated so poorly and the reviews are so bad because the trailer looks so great, I want to like this movie, but I doubt I or many will. Rotten Tomatoes has this listen at a 13% due to critics being disappointed with writer/director Cameron Crowe to be able to follow through with the different themes and stories - they seem to just be forgotten and fade away just for new ones to start.

And for the not so bad, San Andreas. First off, Dwane "The Rock" Johnson is just awesome if you as me, I'd like to give him a hug, he seems like a cool guy all around. As for the movie though, if its taken for what it is, just a disaster movie with lots of cool scenes of the earth falling apart it is outstanding. However, if a compelling story is what you're looking for then only pay attention to Paul Giamatti as the scientist's story. Johnson plays a first response rescuer who gets stuck in the middle of the world cracking open right in California. He makes it his goal to rescue as many people as possibly, including his family. Rotten Tomatoes give this a rating of only 51% and critics agree - come to watch the destruction but don't expect much character progression.

As always, take a look at the trailers below and until next week, we'll MEAT at the movies!
