Let's all MEAT at the moooovies, let's all MEAT at the...oh sorry, didn't see you there. I just got a bit excited for this week's movies. Mostly good excitement, but some bad excitement too.

Let's start with the bad first. 'The Boxtrolls.'  Now, this doesn't mean that this movie will be bad, it's actually got a 7/10 rating on IMDB and 63/100 on Metacritic. so it's okay. The thing that gets me though is the syle in which it was filmed, stop-motion...it just scares me, it isn't natural. From the creators of 'Coraline' and 'ParaNorman' (both of which made me uncomfortable) 'The Boxtrolls' follows a group of creatures, trolls who wear boxes...thus Boxtrolls...who have raised an orphan human, Egg. When the town villain tried to get rid of the Boxtrolls Egg must head to the surface to try and save his family. Even though ratings are okay for this, some critics are saying this movie lacks in storytelling and is a bit sloppy.

Moving on to the must-see movie of the weekend. Denzel Washington is 'The Equalizer.' This movie has pretty good ratings all over the place 7.9/10 on IMDB and 80/100 on Metacritic. This is one of those super bad-ass guys with a 'specific set of skills' who went into retirement but is forced back. But, what makes this one different is he wasn't really asked to leave this new quiet life, he wanted to help a young girl who is under the control of Russian gangsters. Also, he times how fast he can beat the crap out of the bad guys - usually in a matter of seconds; and that's just awesome!

Last for the movies this weekend, if you're in NYC this weekend and you're a Jimi Hendrix fan, you may want to take a look at the latest docudrama, 'Jimi: All is By My Side.' Andre Benjamin or Andre 3000 as some may know him from the group Outkast (Hey Ya anybody?) plays Hendrix as a backup guitarist from 1966-67. This film premiered at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival and as finally left the film fest circuit and is now is limited release. This movie isn't being called the best movie ever, but, it is a good look into Hendrix's life during that year.

Also, I want to throw in a big (accidental) announcement. There's going to be a 'Bill & Ted 3' movie! Remember the bogus journey and excellent adventure? Of course you do - well this one is set in today's world and follows a Bill and Ted who may or may not have really grown up all these years later. It's not set to be released for a while and they were hoping to get further along in creating it before the public found out but hey now we know and we have something to look forward to.

Check out the trailers for this weekend's movies below, and as always, until next week, we'll MEAT at the movies!
