Meat at the Movies: Reboots and Sequels

Without expecting much out of the new movies to the box office this mid-week, they may not be such a disappointment. Within the shadow of Jurassic World emerges the start of the new 'Terminator' trilogy, 'Terminator Genisys' and the well oiled sequel, 'Magic Mike XXL.'

First, the movie for those into proper spelling, 'Terminator Genisys.' Starting up a new trilogy its Arnold Schwarzenegger's last shot to see if his star has dimmed forever; the man is 67 how long can he be in action movies jumping out of things, right? Following some main plot points of the original, together Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke - Daenerys Targaryen for those Game of Thrones fans) and the terminator (Schwarzenegger) must work together to fight the machines sent back in time in order to save the human race from annihilation. With a sad Rotten Tomatoes rating of only 27% critics claim that this reboot lacks the depth and wow factor that is the beast of the original or even second. However, most agree its better then the last two installments.

Then for the movie that actually supposed to be better, a male stripper movie, "Magic Mike XXL.' Channing Tatum and the crew of well oiled men return for one last hurrah before they throw in the towel. In the first one, Mike (Tatums) does everything he can to get out of stripping, yet in this sequel after he is out, the guys get him back for one last legendary performance. Rated a surprising 58% on Rotten Tomatoes with the overall consensus being that it has just enough story to make it something worth watching, also there are lots of ripped guys...if that's your thing.
