Though next week is the real kick-off of the summer blockbusters with the latest Avengers movie, there are still a few good ones leading up to it including the Sci-Fi/Drama/Suspense Ex Machina.

First, looking at an honorable mention for the weekend, The Age of Adaline staring the gorgeous Blake Lively with Harrison Ford and Michiel Huisman. With a 54% rating on Rotten Tomatoes this love-drama looks to be something worth checking out. Adaline (Lively) does not age, she has been 29 for just about 80 years. As anyone would be she is afraid to get close to anyone after learning that she cannot age and her lover will ultimately pass on. It is not until she meets Ellis (Huisman) when decides to think over her decisions in life and rekindle the passion in her life. Critics agree that this is not as compelling as other films with this same story (I can only assume Highlander is included in this) but it is made up for by outstanding performances by Lively and Ford.

And now for what should be top in the box office this week with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of a whopping 89%, Ex Machina. Starring Alicia Vikander, Domhnall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac this sci-fi drama is about an A.I., Ava (Vikander) with an amazing sense of being and unreal emotional intelligence. Programer Caleb (Gleeson) wins a contest to spend time with with his CEO Nathan (Isaac) at a private mountain home where the two learn just how deceptive Ava can be. Critics are raving about the performances from all the actors and are saying that even though this type of movie doesn't usually grab the masses, this one might.

Check out the trailers below and as always, until next week, we'll MEAT at the movies!
