So there's only one major new release this weekend, and that's one that I'm really excited about: Logan. This is the new movie featuring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and it's also, supposedly, his last movie as Wolverine. He's been playing this character forever, going all the way back to the first X-Men movie in 2000. This is the 9th and final time, and it sounds like they went all out for this one. It's rated R, for one thing, while the rest of the X-Men and Wolverine movies have been PG-13, so it allows them to really let loose with the character.

Plus, Patrick Stewart is back as Professor X, and it's supposed to be his last time playing the character too. The movie takes place in in a future where mutants are going extinct, and Logan has to bring a young girl with similar powers as him to safety. It looks heavily influenced by classic westerns like Unforgiven and The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, and it even mixes in elements of the video game The Last of Us, one of the best games of the last few years. And the reviews for this have been tremendous, a lot of people are saying this is the best X-Men movie, maybe one of the best superhero movies ever and that it's incredibly different from any other superhero movie out there so this is definitely one to go see.

And if you're intrigued by its crazy Best Picture win at the Oscars last weekend, Moonlight is coming back into theaters today and it's well worth checking out. Maybe it wasn't playing near you when it was in theaters before, but it's taking advantage of all the hype surrounding it now to get in as many theaters as possible, so if you missed it the first time, this is a really good chance to see it on the big screen.

So Logan is the big release that I'm all psyched for this weekend, but it's a great time to see Moonlight too, and until next time we'll Meat at the Movies.
