Meat at the Movies: Explosions, Laughs & Conformity

...Oh my!

It's a colorful group of movies out this weekend, including one released smack in the middle of the week. Out on Wednesday the 13th is comedy, 'Let's Be Cops,' out of Friday the 15 is the star-studded action sequel, 'The Expendables 3' as well as the Sci-Fi, 'The Giver.'

First off, as soon as I saw the preview for 'Let's Be Cops' I was all over it. I laughed the whole way through, I just hope its as funny as I hope it is; but, with Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson I don't think I'll be disappointed. What could go wrong with a couple of guys dressed as cops for a costume party who let their accidental heroism get to their heads. What was I thinking, it's going to have me on the floor laughing for sure!

Next, the Friday releases. If you were made to read books for school in the '90s or know someone who did, you/they probably read this one, 'The Giver.' Yes, it's now a movie and yes, Jeff Bridges is The Giver. Honestly I don't remember much of the book, only the parts i remember were when the teacher told me I was wrong in trying to figure out the concept behind the book. If you're like me and can't remember, the idea is these people live in a community of conformity. It's up to The Giver, who is the keeper of memories, to pass on what life used to be like to someone new and young when the time comes.

And the last movies, the one with the most action-muscle-flexing-bad-a$$-guys, 'The Expendables 3.' This movie features the likes of these action stars characters: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lundgren, Kelsey Grammer, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Terry Crews. I mean, does there really need to be any more explanation...there's going to be a ton of explosions! It'll be great.
