With the likes of these two comedies, Hot Pursuit and The D Train, it looks to be a cool down weekend from last week's Avengers box office explosion. Though its smart to release a different genre of movie these are nothing to get too excited about.

First, the bad news. Starring Reese Witherspoon and Sophie Vergara, Hot Pursuit follows a straight edge cop (Witherspoon) who is trying to protect a drug lord's widow (Vergara) from crooked cops and outlaw gunman. There is not much to say about this movie except that critics are calling it overwhelmingly unfunny and a huge disappointment. Some say the chemistry between Witherspoon and Vergara just missed the mark. With a Rotten Tomatoes score of 6% I don't see how this could be anything besides a disappointment.

For the meh news, The D Train. Jack Black and James Marsden star in a movie about a high school class reunion. Dan Landsman (Black) was never the cool guy, but Oliver Lawless (Marsden) has always been. Landsman convinces Lawless with a series of lies to help make him popular. As it turns out Landsman gets sucked in for more than he planned and has to decide how far he is willing to go. Rotten Tomatoes gives this a rating of 47% with nothing against Black's performance and his ability to do different kinds of comedy but everything against the writing of the characters as whole in the movie. Critics say that the movie is poorly put together and performances suffer from it.

Check out the trailers below and as always, until next week, we'll MEAT at the movies.
