The Yankees' Mark Teixeira is entering the final year of an eight year contract. But if the Yankees first baseman has his way, he'll be sticking around the Bronx for a few more years.

In fact, Teixeira wants to stay in Bronx till he's at least forty. He's even considered eventually moving into the designated hitter spot to hopefully add a few more years under his belt.

Teixeira is coming off another injury plagued season that saw him miss 43 of the last 45 games of the year, after suffering a shin fracture. In the past four seasons, he's played in only 372 of the Yankees’ 648 games. This had lead many to wonder if the Yankees will keep him around after 2016.

However, a season ending injury to Yankees' first base prospect Greg Bird could keep Teixeira in a Yankees uniform longer than anticipated.

He'll turn 36 just a week after Opening Day
