An exhaustive search for President Dennis Murray's replacement as head of Marist College has ended.

On Saturday Marist College announced that David Yellen, Dean and Professor of Law at the Loyola University Chicago School of Law, will become the fourth President of Marist College. The vote by the Board of Trustees was unanimous in choosing Yellin as President Dennis Murray's successor.

Murray announced almost one year ago today that he would step down as Marist president after 37 years. The early announcement allowed the board to take their time finding a new president.

Yellen, who writes and gives speeches on legal education, was recently ranked 7th on National Jurist's list of the 25 most influential people in legal education. The future Marist president is currently Dean and Professor of Law at the Loyola University Chicago School of Law. While overseeing Loyola, the college was ranked one of the nation’s ten best law schools for experiential learning.

Marist's board of trustee's chair, Ellen Hancock spoke highly of Yellin in an email sent out to students and alumni.

His work as a law school dean, a faculty member, and an attorney gives him a unique appreciation of the distinctive blend of the liberal arts and pre-professional programs that define the Marist experience and positions him well to lead the College to ever-greater heights.

Yellin will be formally introduced to the school on Monday and will officially become president in June. Current president, Dennis Murray, will continue to work at Marist as President Emeritus and Professor of Public Policy.
