Union Leader reports that a Manchester, NH man is facing an arson charge after police say he lit his own vehicle on fire to prevent it from being towed.

Police Sgt. Chris Biron said the owner of a local apartment building had called Dan’s City Towing to have an illegally parked car removed. Police say that 40 year-old Shad Badeau arrived on the scene only to see his car being placed on the tow truck.

This is where Mr. Badeau gets desperate.
According to Sgt. Biron, Badeau then set his vehicle on fire to prevent it from being towed. Obviously startled, the tow truck driver unhitched and dropped the vehicle. Badeau extinguished the car fire himself before fire and police personnel arrived, according to reports.

Badeau was arrested on a charge of arson. Sgt. Biron said that the investigation was ongoing, and additional charges are possible.

Biron said Sunday night the investigation was ongoing, and additional charges are possible. - See more at: http://www.unionleader.com/Police:_Man_set_his_car_ablaze_to_keep_it_from_being_towed_#sthash.YS3tfYAk.dpuf
