Man Wins Right to Wear Goat Horns in License Photo
Phelan Moonsong just wanted to wear his goat horns.
The Maine said that he wears them at all times unless he's sleeping or bathing. Moonsong said the horns are his spiritual antennae and that they teach him about Paganism.
Moonsong is an ordained Pagan priest.
He had been going back and forth with officials from the state of Maine over his right to wear the horns in his driver's license photo. After all, they don't block his face from view and they serve his religious beliefs?
Religious head garbs are allowed in license photos. This includes Turbans or even a spaghetti strainer.
When Moonsong applied for his license in August, the Maine Secretary of State's office said they wanted more info on the unusual garb, because they never seen anyone actually wearing goat horns before.
Moonsong claims he provided the information but was told he was rejected by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in late November. Even the ACLU rejected his case when he filed for assistance.
The good news is that the state of Maine has apparently had a change of heart and let Moonsong have his horns and his license.
