According to police, over the last five years this man has used the Medicaid transportation services as his personal taxi.

In a continued investigation into the misuse of Medicaid transportation services, the Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Task Force has arrested Carl M. Wolkoff, 57, of Monticello.

Wolkoff was charged with offering a false instrument for filing and the theft of services. Allegedly Wolkoff used Medicaid transportation over the last five years as a personal taxi service instead of its intended use to make doctor visits.

Police believe Wolkoff racked up approximately $10,000 in fraudulent Medicaid charges. Task Force Members were waiting for Wolkoff at his residence, when he pulled up in a Medicaid taxi. He was apparently returning from a local laundromat with a bag of freshly washed clothes.

He was arraigned and remanded to Sullivan County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to return to court this week.

The Task Force is auditing all Medicaid taxi rides, and expects more arrests.
