A man is in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle while walking in Dutchess County.

The Town of Poughkeepsie Police are investigating car-pedestrian accident that occurred at approximately 11:38 pm, on Tuesday, on Innis Avenue in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a 36-year old male was walking in or near the northbound lane of the roadway, when he was struck by a 53-year old motorist in the vicinity of the south entrance to the Ridgefield Apartment complex.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was transferred to Westchester Medical Center. At this time, alcohol involvement is not suspected of the motor vehicle operator.

The pedestrian is a Poughkeepsie resident, and the vehicle operator is a resident of Wingdale.

The roadway was closed for approximately four hours during the investigation.
