A Rockland County man was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly showing a gun and shouting racial slurs at a taxi driver in New Paltz. 

State Troopers were flagged down in the early morning hours on Sunday by a taxi driver on Main Street in the Village of New Paltz. The taxi driver reported that he was threatened by a customer, who brandished a gun inside his taxi cab.

Troopers located the customerin question, who was identified as Andrew M. Plachecki, 26 of Congers, NY on Main Street at a gas station.

An investigation revealed that Plachecki used derogatory launguage about the race of the taxi driver while displaying a handgun in a dispute about the fare amount.. Plachecki exited the cab without further incident.

Plachecki was arrested and charged with Reckless Endangerment in the second-degree, and Menacing in the second-degree, both felonies. He was remanded to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, or $50,000 bond.
