58 year old Gary Anderson of Somerdale, NJ, who was delivering sheet rock near a construction site in Jersey City, died this morning after a freak accident. The construction site will be the future home of a hotel attached to a 50 story residential tower. According to reports, the man was struck in the head by a one pound tape measure when it fell from the 50th floor, hit construction equipment that was about 10 to 15 feet from the ground, and then ricocheted and struck Anderson in the head. Anderson was not wearing a hard hat. He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, initially listed in serious condition, where he later died.
