A man riding a driving mower was injured after a woman hit the tractor while trying to pass in a no passing zone.

Tuesday morning, deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call for a property damage accident involving a car and an Ulster County Highway Department Vehicle that was mowing on Lucas Turnpike in the Town of Marbletown.

According to police, a 2009 Honda, driven by Tessa M. Romita, 46, of Stone Ridge, was traveling south on Lucas Turnpike. Romita tried to pass a 2002 John Deere tractor, operated by 52-year-old Juan Roman, of Ellenville, in a no passing zone and hit the left front tire of the tractor.

Roman reported head pain and was transported to Health Alliance of Kingston-Broadway Campus by the Marbletown Rescue Squad. Romita reported no injuries.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by members of the Marbletown Rescue Squad, the High Falls Fire Department, and the Ulster County Safety Office.

Police did not say if any charges were filed.
