Police got some help from an unlikely source when catching an escaped fugitive. 21 year old Daniel Rice was already in jail, facing theft, burglary and criminal mischief charges in Muscatine County, IL. According to police, Rice had to be transported to Muscatine Hospital after experiencing heart related issues. It was there that he somehow allegedly escaped in spite of being handcuffed to one of the hospital beds.

This is where things get weird.

On the morning of October 22nd, Rock Island County deputies were sent to the Loud Thunder Forest Preserve in Illinois City, Illinois, to investigate a call. 911 had received a call from a man using the name of Zachary Turner, claiming that he was being chased by anywhere from 20 to 30 coyotes.

Upon arrival, the Rock Island County deputies instead found their escapee, Mr. Rice. They quickly determined that it was Rice, and not someone named Zach Turner, who had made the call. The pacemaker scar on his chest was a dead giveaway. He was later arrested and then later transferred from the Rock Island County Jail to the Muscatine County Jail, where's he being held in lieu of $50,000 cash-only bond.
