Every year we hear stories of people getting hurt or killed by fireworks. Yet, ever year the stories continue to get stranger and stranger.

KRQE News reports that a man in Maine has died after attempting to shoot fireworks from the top of his head. 22-year-old Devon Staples from Calais, Maine was was partying in a friend's backyard on the Fourth of July when the incident occurred.

Eyewitnesses saw Staples place a mortar on his head in an attempt to shoot them off of his body. Once the fireworks were ignited, police say that the man died instantly. As if we needed to tell you, police also said that Staples and his friends had been drinking.

Let this be a sobering reminder for everyone out there; Fireworks and alcohol just don't mix. We'd like to think that people would learn from this story, but it's sad to say that I'm pretty sure we'll hear another one of the tragic tales next year.
