A man is claiming that there was a major UFO coverup in the 1980s that stopped the public from finding out about flying saucers that visited the City of Poughkeepsie.

Greg Boone is an author who worked for the Poughkeepsie Journal back in 1985 when he claims the flying saucer visited him and 10 coworkers. Boone recalls the incident in an article for UFO Digest called "The Poughkeepsie Black Boomerang UFO; More Proof of Media UFO Coverup."

According to his story, Boone claims that on a Sunday evening in 1985 during the Dutchess County Fair, a photographer for the Journal reported seeing a giant boomerang-shaped UFO heading south on Route 9. The photographer tells Boone that she spotted the UFO while standing on a hill and claims that it was "definitely not an airplane... or anything like it."

...The saucer was 200 feet wide and dark black in color, somehow not reflecting any of the light from the street below.

The round object reportedly hovered for almost 10 minutes before suddenly disappearing to the south, towards the City of Poughkeepsie. That is when the photographer contacted Boone back at the Poughkeepsie Journal offices to go up on the roof and look for it. Boone claims that he and two editors saw the dark shape through the third floor window, approaching from five miles away.

The object, as described by Boone, had amber and red lights that grew bigger as it approached the City of Poughkeepsie. The craft suddenly shut off its lights and then quickly turned and headed straight for the Poughkeepsie Journal building.

Boone goes on to claim that as the UFO approached it hovered about 40 feet above the building. After getting a good look at the saucer, the author claims it was 200 feet wide and dark black in color, somehow not reflecting any of the light from the street below.

Remarkably, Boone also claims that "thousands" of Hudson Valley residents witnessed the UFO, since traffic from the Dutchess County Fair had cars lined up on Route 9 from Rhinebeck to Poughkeepsie. The author says that people abandoned their cars in amazement, seeing the UFO in the sky above them.

With all of these witnesses, there must be some people out there who can corroborate this story, but we were unable to find any. Do you remember seeing a UFO in Dutchess County during August of 1985? Boone claims that there are many witnesses out there. If you're one of them, we'd love to hear your story!
