Police arrested a 21-year-old after he allegedly fired shots outside of a Newburgh nightclub.

Sunday around 4:15 a.m., City of Newburgh Police responded to the Escandola Nightclub following reports of shots fired. As officers approached the area they say they noticed a man a short distance away who matched the physical and clothing description of the alleged shooter.

As police approached the suspect he’s accusing of throwing an item that appeared to be a firearm. Police soon detained 21-year-old Axel Ramirez-Jacinto, of Newburgh and allegedly recovered a black Raven Arms .25 caliber pistol.

Ramirez-Jacinto was placed under arrest and identified by authorities as the nightclub shooter. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, felonies, and menacing, a misdemeanor.

There were no reported victims as a result of the shooting.
