A local man is behind bars for allegedly robbing from two local businesses.

According to City of Poughkeepsie police, on May 5, a man entered a store on Garden Street in Poughkeepsie, placed a handkerchief over his mouth, put his hand in his pocket as if he had a gun and demanded money. After getting some money, the man fled.

On May 11, a man entered La Deliziosa on Mount Carmel Place, pulled a mask over his face, put his hand in his pockets as if he had a gun and demanded money from the clerk. Again, the man fled after receiving money.

After an investigation, 33-year-old Wayne Franklin was identified as the suspect for both robberies, police say. He was charged with two-counts of second-degree robbery, felonies, and criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Franklin was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail.
