So it looks we'll have to wait another year before we can drink an alcoholic beverage while at the movies.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that NY Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and other lawmakers said no to the idea over concerns of it's effects on children.

We want people to be able to take their children to a movie theater and not have to worry about the sobriety of the people sitting next to them.

So drinking at sporting events is okay, right?

Governor Andrew Cuomo said in January that he would introduce legislation to get booze into theaters showing PG-13 or R rated movies in the state of New York. The idea was already turned down in the state budget back in April. Some theater and brewery owners were still hoping that it would pass in state legislature.

Guess they got their answer. The law if it had been passed would have allowed theaters to apply for a permit to serve alcohol.

Naturally, most of those theaters are in New York City.
