Earlier today, a CSX engine, travelling Southbound through Kingston, caught fire causing the train to be stopped in Port Ewen. Local firefighters responded to the call. Apparently, the fire was discovered in the engine compartment of the second locomotive, according to The Poughkeepsie Journal.

After firefighters extinguished the fire, a fuel leak was determined to have caused the blaze. Luckily, the train wasn't carrying any hazardous materials and reports are that no one was injured and none of the 97 cars, carrying automobiles, were damaged. As a result of the fuel leak, some diesel fuel did spill onto the ground, but a CSX Environmental engineer arrived on the scene to clean the spill adhering to the applicable regulations.

James Nani, of the Times Herald-Record was at the scene.

Traffic was impacted for a time while the fire was extinguished and the spill cleaned up. The train began it's journey in Louisville, Kentucky and was on it's way to Oak Island, New Jersey. Thankfully, this was able to be taken care of quickly, with minimal damage.
