Town of Highland Police are investigating why a Highland Falls woman's Toyota Camry was parked on a train track, when it was struck yesterday, the Times Herald Record reports. The CSX freight train hit Eileen O'Brien's Camry Wednesday afternoon on Mine Dock Road in Fort Montgomery. Rob Doolittle, a spokesman for CSX, says the train left from Selkirk in Albany County and was headed to Hamlet, North Carolina. Highland Police Chief Jack Quinn said the crossing gates were working properly, and that the car appeared to be stopped on the tracks, though they've been unable to interview O'brien as of now.

"We don’t know if she was on the tracks before the gates went down or after the gates went down,” Quinn told the newspaper. The woman was airlifted to Westchester County Medical Center and is being treated for severe injuries.

The locomotives of the CSX were said to be pulling 121 cars. Both and train's conductor and engineer were not injured.
