There is a 1,975-foot-long water slide in our area that has just been judged the longest in the world.

On Friday, the Guinness Book of World Records confirmed that Action Park in Sussex, NJ is now home to the longest water slide in the world. According to NJ.com, the slide was constructed for the filming of "Xtreme Waterparks" on the Travel Channel.

In an episode to air on July 26, host Jimi Hunt helps to erect the massive slide on the Mountain Creek ski slopes. As of now, only employees are able to experience what the water slide is like. Operating approval from the state hasn't come through yet and Action Park reps don't actually know when or if that will ever happen.

Luckily, one of the employees was stupid... er, brave enough to try it out and agreed to wear a go-pro on his head. Watch below to see his perspective of the minute-long ride, showing us exactly how insane this slide really is.

WPVI-TV in Philadelphia says that the slide was built with 10,000 feet PVC plastic, the same kind that's used in inflatable bounce houses. 15 blowers powered by two generators keep the slide inflated and able to hold the 1,000 gallons of water per hour that's needed to keep riders flying downhill at speeds of around 35mph.

If you're wondering how much the slide costs, WPVI reports that the final price tag was close to $100,000.
