What started as harmless bragging about a good grade lead to an entire school being evacuated. Washingtonville High School was evacuated Friday after a 14-year-old student wrote “I got a bomb grade” on a blackboard. Bomb, in this case meaning awesome, or great...not an explosive device. The Times Herald Record reports that the entire high school was immediately evacuated. The approximately 1,500 students were sent to the middle school where they remained for the rest of the school day. Police said they found no credible threat of a bomb and that the school was safe.
This marks the third day in a row that a school in Orange County has been shut down because of a bomb threat. Monroe-Woodbury Middle School students were evacuated Thursday after a scrawled bomb threat was discovered on the inside of a bathroom stall. A similar bomb threat was found in a Monroe-Woodbury high school bathroom, Wednesday.
