A local man plead guilty to an intoxicated car crash that killed one person.

In Westchester County Court, 39-year-old Hasani Ewan of Mount Vernon, plead guilty to one count of 2nd-degree vehicular manslaughter, a class D felony
According to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, in Sept. of 2015, Ewan was driving on the Cross County Parkway when he drove his car off the highway and into the Seminary Bridge abutment.

The car’s front passenger side struck the bridge, killing Eloise Spears, of the Bronx.

Police say when they arrived on the scene of the crash Ewan’s eyes were glassy and he staggered he walked. He also smelled of alcohol and marijuana, officials say.

Ewan suffered a cut to the face from the accident and was taken to Westchester Medical Center. Upon his arrival he was placed under arrest and advised of his DWI warnings.

The defendant’s blood drawn at the hospital revealed that he had a .13% blood alcohol level.

Ewan remains out on bail. He is due to be sentenced on August 11.
