Police say a Pawling man has been arrested after a traffic stop ended with the man assaulting a New York State Trooper.

New York State Police from Poughkeepsie pulled over Edward C. See, Jr., 65, of Pawling after he allegedly failed to use his turning signal. The traffic stop occurred near Summit Avenue and Willets Drive in Pawling.

After an interview, the arresting officer believed See was intoxicated. Police say, while attempting to place the defendant into custody, he actively resisted arrest which led to the arresting officer to be injured. Police have not revealed the extent of the officers injuries.

See was charged with a felony assault. He was also charged driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.

See was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where he was treated and released. He was arraigned before the Town of Pawling Court and released. He is due in the Village of Pawling Court on January 14.

One could say See fought the law ---- and the law won!
