Abigail Nohai won the First Place Undergraduate Award for Excellence in The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, juried exhibition in Providence, R.I.

The piece was created in the spring of 2014 during an independent study course at Dutchess Community College. The piece of art is titled “Topographic Recollections.” It was one of just eight undergraduate submissions, and the only piece created by a community college student, selected from over 500 entries nationwide for inclusion in the exhibition.

Way to go Abigail!

Nohai is now studying ceramics at SUNY New Paltz while also working in another independent study course at DCC.

According to DCC's website, Dr. Pamela Edington, DCC president said:

This is a tremendous accomplishment for Abigail. The award speaks not only to her immense talent, but the dedication of our faculty and staff who are committed to helping students reach their full potential

The work was originally on display at Art Centro in Poughkeepsie, and was included in an exhibition on campus.

Congratulations Abigail Noha!
