An 18-year-old volunteer went undercover for the police this week, trying to purchase drinks at various Hudson Valley bars. One establishment is now facing stiff penalties for serving him a beer, say local authorities.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that Michael's in Wappingers Falls may face civil penalties by the state liquor authority after police say a minor was served in the popular hangout. Michael's used to be located in the Shop Rite plaza in Fishkill, but recently moved to the building formerly occupied by The Inn at Osborne Hill in Wappingers.

The bartender who is said to have served the minor will appear in court on Thursday. He has been charged with two misdemeanors including the prohibited sale of alcoholic beverage and first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child.

None of the other establishments visited by the undercover minor allowed him to purchase any alcohol during the sting operation.
