The New York Knicks started the new season pretty much the same way they ended the old one.

The team traveled to Cleveland to take on the defending NBA Champions, the Cavaliers, in the first official game of the 2016-17 season.

Derek Rose made his Knicks debut, finishing the night with 17 points, but committed a number of turnovers in first half. Rose, by far the team's biggest offseason acquisition, is a former league MVP. but has suffered a multitude of injuries over the past several seasons.

As the score indicates, the Knicks defense was completely ineffective.

Lebron James finished with a triple-double for the Cavs, as the Cleveland celebrated their 2016 Finals win with a huge pre-game ceremony.

The Knicks play their first home game Saturday, as they host the Memphis Grizzlies at Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks missed the payoffs for the third straight year in 2015-16 and are hoping to turn things around this year.
