Rumors have been swirling lately that Aerosmith have been pursuing the option of moving on without iconic singer Steven Tyler. The two sides have dividing on a multitude of issues since 2009, but guitarist Joe Perry has affirmed the band has not been shopping for alternative options up front.

"Any rumor out there about us looking for another singer is completely untrue," Perry said, adding "All five of us were just on the phone together talking about how excited we are to go to South America and Mexico City." The statement is a stark contrast to what his guitar counterpart Brad Whitford had stated earlier this week, expressing to Metal Rules Aerosmith had indeed been toying with the idea of tapping another frontman, “Absolutely, we have considered it — but whether it will happen, I don’t know."

Tyler and Perry have been trading jabs in the media since the end of their tour last year. Finding other creative avenues, Tyler has headed up a career as a country singer, drawing heat from Perry who told USA Today, “Steven is in Nashville doing whatever he’s doing. He’s got a [bleeping] rhinestone cowboy hat going ‘Yippee ki yay.’ I don’t know what else to say about that.”

So far, Tyler has released two singles, "Red, White and You" and "Love Is Your Name." The singer had hoped to have the album released back in February, but no released date has been named yet.

Earlier this year, Tyler and Perry had split opinions on the future of Aerosmith. The frontman mentioned he had about 30 solo dates booked for 2016 and that Aerosmith would head out on the road next year, likely to perform a farewell tour. Perry later revealed that the band had fleetingly discussed the idea over the last five years and while it is a consideration, nothing has been confirmed.
